Built to Last: From Raw Material to a Lifetime of Use

We believe in making leather goods that will last a lifetime and be passed on to the next generation. How can we make such a bold claim? It all starts with great quality raw materials. We proudly source all our leather locally from Sweden. They only make vegetable-tanned leather from Tärnsjö Garveri of the highest quality. We also source all our other materials from Europe: thread, snaps, metal accessories, and even the beeswax.

The next piece of the puzzle in making a timeless piece is to think about the design. We will not follow trends, but set the trend instead. We might, for example, make a bag to hold an A4 notebook, and it so happens that your laptop might fit in that same compartment. But the laptop will fade away with new technologies, while the A4 notebook is timeless. The bag will keep its purpose or can be reused for other applications. All production is done here in Umeå, Sweden and we have full control over the design and quality of the finished goods.

We have a strong focus on the user experience and make adjustments where needed so that everything fits perfectly. For example, a bag handle's width is well experimented with before it is implemented in the final product.

The final piece is testing and maintenance. We run long tests on all products before we even put them on the market. We personally use the prototypes or ask close family and friends to help with that. We want to know that the product will stand the test of time.

For example, I have personally strapped a piece of Tärnsjö Garveri leather to my wrist as a nice bracelet. The only caveat is that it is fixed and cannot be removed. I wear it in the shower, at the gym, in the sauna, in the ocean, and when I sleep. I want to throw a hard life at it and expose it to most things Mother Nature can throw at it.

The piece has been on my wrist for about one year now. It does not smell, which shows that leather has antibacterial properties. It still has a very good, deep color and no cracks, which means that the tanning process was done well.

Once we know that the raw material, design, testing, and construction techniques are good, we then put the product on the market. We stand by the goods we make.
